Privacy notice

How I handle your personal information when you get in touch through this site.

Who I am

Brighton and Hove Drum Academy (BHDA) is run by James Bracey as a sole trader. I am the data controller for any personal information collected through this site.

Address: Unit 4, Chapel Road, Portslade, BN41 1PF
Email: bhdrumacademy@gmail.com

What I collect

When you fill in the contact form on this site, you choose to send me:

That's it. The site doesn't track you, set advertising cookies, or load any third-party analytics. The only thing stored in your browser is a small note of your light or dark theme preference, which never leaves your device.

The contact section shows a small map of the studio location. Map tiles are loaded from CARTO's basemap CDN, with the underlying map data from OpenStreetMap. Neither sets advertising cookies or tracks you across sites. If you click the "get directions" button, you'll be taken to Google Maps and Google's own privacy policy applies from that point on.

Why I collect it, and the lawful basis

I use the information you send to reply to your enquiry and, if it leads to lessons, to arrange the first one. The lawful basis is legitimate interests (responding to a direct enquiry from you), and where lessons go ahead, the basis becomes performance of a contract.

Who else sees your information

The contact form is hosted by Netlify, which receives and stores the submission so I can read it. Netlify acts as a processor on my behalf under their data processing terms. No one else has access to enquiries.

If your enquiry turns into lessons, your details are then handled under the wider BHDA student record practices, which I'll explain at that point.

How long I keep it

Enquiries that don't lead to lessons are deleted after 12 months. If your enquiry becomes a booking, the relevant details move into the BHDA student records and follow the retention schedule for those.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can:

To exercise any of these, email bhdrumacademy@gmail.com and I'll respond within a month.

If you're not happy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies. A small entry in your browser's local storage remembers whether you've picked light or dark theme. You can clear it any time from your browser settings.
